There are many issues facing businesses in the current economic climate. The Chamber is here to ensure that the business communities voice is heard – both nationally and regionally. Nationally our policy & research officer is working with Chamber’s Ireland lobbying for national changes on

(1) the calculation of commerical rates/ the funding mechanisam of local governments;

(2) the reformation of JLC’s/ ERA’s/ bankruptcy legislation;

and (3) Access to credit/ credit guarantee scheme.

While this work will continue on a national level, locally Limerick Chamber shall also focus on regional issues that affect and impact on our members ability to do business. In this regard the Chamber has agreed upon four core priorities in the immediate term (1) Local Government Reform (2) Job Creation and Enterprise Growth (3) City Centre Renewal and (4) Shannon Airport as an enabler of growth for the region.

Board Committee structures have been put in place to support and inform the work of the CEO and Policy & Research officer. They are as follows:

Local Government Reform: Richard Rice, Gary Rowan, Harry Fehily, Brian McEnery, Karl Daly.

Job creation & Enterprise Development: Kieran MacSweeney, Fergal Barry, Mícheál O’Laoide

City Centre Renewal: Gordon Kearney, Jim Kenny, Karl Daly, Gary Rowan, Richard Rice. Within the City Centre Group Liam Dwan will be heading a special policing sub-committee with assistance from Derry McCarthy.

Shannon Airport as an enabler for Growth: Tadhg Kearney, Sean Lally, Harry Fehily
